Work with Me / Book Design

Design that makes a book easier to read—and harder to overlook.

Book design gives structure a visible form. I create interiors, covers and print-ready files that support the genre, guide the reader and meet the technical requirements of the chosen publishing route.

Design services

From manuscript file to coherent book object.

Design scope can focus on the interior, the cover or the complete visual system. Before design begins, we clarify format, page count, print method, genre conventions and the files required by the publishing platform or printer.

Interior design

A consistent page architecture for fiction, nonfiction, journals, workbooks and gift books.

Typesetting

Professional hierarchy, styles, spacing, paragraph treatment and page flow for long-form reading.

Print layout

Trim size, margins, bleed, running elements, page numbering and production-aware layout decisions.

Cover design

Front-cover concepts built around positioning, genre signals, legibility and thumbnail impact.

Full-wrap covers

Front, spine and back cover assembled to the final printer specification and confirmed page count.

Production files

Export and preparation of print-ready files for Amazon KDP or another agreed production workflow.

More than formatting

The design should explain the page before the reader notices it.

Typography, white space and hierarchy determine how quickly information can be understood and how comfortably a book can be read. A decorative layout that ignores function is not a professional solution.

Readability

Type size, line length, leading and contrast suited to the content and format.

Hierarchy

Clear relationships between chapters, headings, body text, prompts and supporting elements.

Genre fit

Visual decisions that signal the right category without copying a generic template.

Consistency

A repeatable design system that remains stable across the complete book.

Selected visual work

Design across different book types.

My own publications allow me to test visual systems across reflective journals, gift books and guided workbooks—not only as portfolio images, but as complete production files.

Design process

Built on final information—not guesswork.

Cover dimensions depend on format, paper, bleed and final page count. Interior design also works best once the manuscript structure is stable.

Brief

Book, reader, genre, format and references.

Setup

Specifications, source files and design direction.

Concept

Representative pages or cover direction.

Refinement

Agreed feedback and complete application.

Delivery

Final files in the agreed formats.

Technical preparation

What final delivery can include.

  • Print-ready interior PDF in the agreed trim size
  • Full-wrap cover matched to final production dimensions
  • Bleed, margins and image handling prepared for the selected route
  • Source or editable files only when included in the proposal
  • A defined revision and preflight scope before upload

Printer acceptance can depend on platform settings and final uploaded content. The proposal identifies which checks and upload support are included.
